French Macarons!

To say that I’m tired would be an understatement!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of working with six amazing, talented, and excited young women. We spent 4.5 hours working together to learn the art and science of creating meringues that become one of the most challenging cookies in French bakeries. THE FRENCH MACARON!!

I had to master the cookie myself before attempting to share the experience with anyone else. My dear friend from California became my sensei. She and I competed together on our Food Network competition, “Christmas Cookie Challenge 2” in 2016. Mai Thi is such an amazing baker and friend. She worked tirelessly with me for weeks to insure that I understood the intricacies of the process. Thank you Mai.

Yesterday was an amazing time. These young ladies worked hard, listened well, and enjoyed their success. They went home with a new vocabulary: “Macaronage, Macaronner, and Pied (foot in French)”

Creativity abounded and each young woman got to take home a recipe, some tools, and a box of a dozen macarons that they created. Congratulations!!

This class raised my experiences and made me a better baker!!

So, Nous l'avons fait!

Now for a nice cup of tea and a couple of Macarons!
